. Reflective Narrative
This course was an introduction to Hispanic literature; poetry, drama and novels. Throughout the semester we read various pieces of works according to each era that we were learning. Along with the readings, I was responsible for creating literary analysis on selected works. My personal favorite era was the Latin American "Boom", because during this period some of favorite writers emerged with excellent pieces; one of them being Juan Rulfo who uses magic realism in most of his novels.
Another important characteristic that I learned in this course was how to analyze a poem. The first thing we learned was how to count each syllable, then to decide whether it was a long or short count. We then analyzed the poem verse by verse. This course allowed me to have a deeper understanding of how Hispanic literature has made an impact not only in Europe but also in Latinamerica. Here you will find two examples of two projects that were assigned throughout the semester; a critical analysis of a narrative piece and my final presentation, in which I analyze a famous poem, "El Cisne" by Ruben Dario.
