Reflective Narrative
This is the course were we prepare our capstone project. This project is divided into several parts. First of all, we chose a topic of interest related to our major, in my case, I decided do it on the image of La Virgen de Guadalupe and how it has become a cultural icon for many Mexicans. I began to do research and read several articles and a novel, that helped me in creating my research paper; my longest project yet.
The second part of the Capstone project is to do a presentation about the research. We create a power-point presentation in English and present to the audience in the Spanish language, in order to be assessed in language proficiency. The presentation explains the purpose of our research and what we learned throughout the research.
This course can be challenging because we work on this project at our own pace and were responsible for fulfilling the requirements for this course. Also, in this course we had the guidance of only our academic advisors, who provide each of us with specific information about our topic. I learned that in order to get this project done in a timely manner, one has to manage time wisely. Overall, I can say that this course has prepared me for my future educational goals, by allowing me to expand my research, writing and oral skills.
