Reflective Narrative
In this class I learned about the ancient Mesoamerican civilizations, especially Mexica culture. The textbook called the Aztecs by Richard Townshend, was the book assigned to read, for each chapter we had to answer several questions to demonstrate our understanding on the topics. We also had the opportunity to watch documentaries on the ancient civilizations and answer a set of questions provided by the professor.
In order to showcase our understanding on the topics discussed in class, we were responsible for creating 3 oral presentations on 3 different archaeological sites and present our findings to the class. I decided to do my presentations on Monte Alban, Teotihuacan and Lake Texcoco.
Finally for our final exam, we had the option to either write a research paper or do an art presentation on any topic such as, Aztec music, dance, poetry, food, etc. I decided to do my art presentation on traditional Aztec dancing and I even performed a dance called Huitzilopochtli, along with the Aztec dance group I dance for. Here you will find some examples what I did throughout the semester.
